Digital Observatory

This section contains a tool to help the amateur astronomer choose what's worth an observation in the following nights.

Longitude/Latitude/TimeZone:

LocalDate/LocalTime:

MinAZ/MaxAZ/MinHeight/MaxHeight/MagLim:

Longitude is expressed in degrees and it is negative east of Greenwich. Latitude is also expressed in degrees and it is positive north of the equator. TimeZone (the time shift between Greenwich time) is expressed in hours and it is positive east of Greenwich. The LocalDate and LocalTime fields are pretty self-explanatory. The MinAZ/MaxAZ/MinHeight/MaxHeight/MagLim fields are filters that can be applied to better identify visible objects, thus taking care of limitations of the observing site (obstacles, light pollution, etc...). The first two fields allow to filter by azimuth (expressed in degrees from north), while the second two by height (expressed in degrees) and the last one by magnitude.
